The Helen Keller Festival began in 1979 as a tribute to the life of Helen Keller. Thousands of visitors from around the world come to Tuscumbia, Alabama each year to celebrate the achievements of the remarkable woman who has come to be known as America’s First Lady of Courage. The Helen Keller Festival is a multi-disciplinary festival featuring art, music, athletic events, storytelling, southern dance traditions, walking tours and other activities. The Festival of the Arts is a feature of the overall Festival. The Festival of the Arts takes an interactive approach that allows adults and children an opportunity to experience a variety of art disciplines in ways that are beneficial to both artist and audience. 


Helen Keller Festival of the Arts

Accomplished jury selected artists from across the Southeast exhibit and sell their original work and limited edition reproductions on the "North Bank" of Tuscumbia’s Spring Park. Shop for masterpieces at affordable prices. Media include clay, wood, fiber, metal, jewelry, glass, painting and drawing by both fine and self-taught artists. All work is hand crafted and is not commercially produced.


Artists interested in participating in the 2010 Festival of the Arts may CLICK HERE FOR THE 2010 CALL FOR ENTRIES link to download a complete prospectus and application. The Festival of the Arts is juried by impartial experts in the field of art and craft. To ensure a balanced show, only a limited number of exhibitors will be accepted in any given category. To be considered artists must submit a signed entry form, fees and images on appropriately labeled slides or CD by May 21.  However, early application is encouraged. Discounted booth and screening fees are available for applications postmarked by March 15, 2010. No applications will be accepted after May 21.


Fun, creative hands-on activities will keep children at Imagination Station. Youngsters will construct their own works of art using unexpected materials and vibrant imaginations. Activities include one of a kind make-and-take and group projects. Imagination Station is located on the "North Bank" of Tuscumbia’s Spring Park. Activities are FREE.
